Happy May Day

Took this while waiting to cross the street
At the "Cotton Candy" Park

I was not the only one awake at 2am. Hannah, decided to bless us with her wakefulness. No more naps at 6pm! Todd went to work this morning to return an hour later, I guess he discovered it's May Day. What's May Day you ask?  Well it's another day where nothings open. It's like labor day I guess. Traditionally they give out Lilly of the Valley to loved ones...and the labor parties protest. So we went out to the "cotton candy" park to play pinkie pong. We stopped at the bakery(only thing open) grabbed some bread and croissants and headed out. The park was fun. At one point Hannah threw the ball into the fountain so that occupied them for 10 minutes while they tried to get it back with help from a newly found American playmate. They really wanted Cotton Candy so I said they could get one but they had to go order it themselves...in french.  Austin went from a look of joy to complete panic.  After persuading him for 5 minutes that it would be ok he finally gathered his courage and his little brother and went over.  It seemed to go ok watching from afar.

Ok these are just ridiculous but on our street there is a billboard of sorts that has both Kristen Stewart's add for Snow White AND Robert Pattinson for Cosmopolis.  I "really like" Twilight so it makes me giggle a little each time I walk by it...and it annoys Todd, bonus.

Todd went for a run earlier in the day and I cooked dinner with Austin.  I told him when he gets older and goes to college he will have roommates, maybe his cousins and they will have to take turns cooking so he should learn.  He said Grant(cousin) could do the cooking, he'd help clean up.  But despite his protest he helped make dinner.
The real miracle was not that they got the ball back but that no one ended up in the fountain.

Glad I looked behind me
I went for a run.  It's funny what people will run in here.  It's like 70 degrees out and everyone is in sweat pants and long sleeves, unless you are obviously from Eastern Europe in which case you are in matching jump suites.  Actually I have no idea if that's where the matching jump suite people are from but I would bet I am right.  I have realized I have started to run like the French drive.  I just assume I have the right of way and blaze by.  Heaven help you if you get in my way.  I even rolled my eyes in annoyance at some people taking pictures and thus taking up the whole sidewalk...I am almost a local!!   The sun was setting and it was neat because there were so many people out along the river.  Lots of people playing music watching the sun set over the River.  I still don't understand why I look like I am obviously not a french speaker.  I was running near our house and some lady stopped me to ask for directions, I had "Pardon ju no parle pa france"(I don't speak french) on the tip of my tongue when I realized she was speaking English.  This happens a lot.  It's not like I am out in a shirt with an American flag on it?

It's all pretty.

  1. Never underestimate the powerful influence of cotton candy.

I love the idea of our kids being roommates! Although, you might encourage Austin to be the one cooking. He probably won't want to clean up after Grant--I do it every day and it's not a pretty sight.

  2. Yes if ever I need to motivate austin I just tell him it has something to do with his cousins. He'd do just about anything for them or the chance to be with them.
