Slip sliding naked on the patio...

Slip sliding naked on the patio (kids not me, I never caught Todd doing it), ice cream, and air conditioning.  How bad could it be?  We are enjoying our time here in Split.  It's been super hot.  Todd who had been running convinced me to go on a run the other day after my continued protest that it was too hot.  It was too hot but thankfully I went anyways because I got to see what has to be the most beautiful part of this area.  It's been in the high 90's for the last couple days.  Our apartment has A/C and a ample water supply and a shaded balcony so we are totally fine just hanging here as we have been.  We are enjoying all the extra space. Todd and I even found ourselves in a quite room alone at one point and could not help but wonder what it would be like when our kids were older...and there were more moments in quiet rooms.

Yesterday Sierra was my "buddy" and we went to the store for supplies.  While there we saw Kinder Eggs, the chocolate eggs with a small toy inside.  As she had been so sweet I got her one.  It's not usual that a kid gets something the others don't so this was the event of the afternoon.  Today was Hannah's turn to go.  It was so hot and I was walking to what's called the green market on the other side of town for some fruit and veggies.  Because I did not get around to going until it was 2:00 and like 100 degrees I tried to talk her out of it.  She insisted she wanted to go and that she would not cry or ask me to carry her up the substantial hill that we had to go up in order to get home.  She was perfect.  And subsequently rewarded with ice cream which we had to eat at an incredible rate in order to keep from becoming a sticky mess, and a Kinder Egg.  She is such a chatter box, the child blabbed on the whole way, she talked about Nana, Teresa, how she wants a dog, how she wants a dog like Patty, not Hayden because Hayden is crazy...on and on and on.  But the really funny thing is that whenever people talk to her she just gives them the cold shoulder.  Here I discovered it's good to have a small child with you.  It's the only time I see people smile.  Today while getting produce a Croatian lady was telling Hannah about the Bee's around the peaches (in whatever language this is, but I got what the buzz sound was) and even gave her a peach.  I reminded her to say thank you and she just glared at the poor sweet woman and said thank you through gritted teeth.

We leave in the morning for Hvar, an island near here where we stay for 3 nights.  It's supposed to be a cool place full of Lavender and jet setters.

On my run there were these ruins built into the hillside.

We found skateboarders and Austin was taking notes.

When you wake up and a cruise ship is parked outside you know you are in a good spot.

View from run

Stumbled across some festival that had really awful singing so Jackson plugged his ears, Austin was protesting that it was rude and normally I'd agree but I pointed out it sounded bad so Austin plugged his ears too.

On run

I cannot spell in English...I'm guessing I would not do well here either.

  1. I can not believe how much the girls faces have changed since they left 4 months ago. They look so big and so mature! It's amazing. I can't imagine how difficult it will be when you all go to Virginia.
