Another blog about a park and a run

Some random building I liked the flower boxes.

I don't know if it's our coping mechanism for knowing we are leaving this fantasy life we have made here, or if we really are home sick but for the last few days both Todd and I have said we were ready to go home(which is crazy because I know what we will find there...jobs, school, and "stuff.")  But reality has begun to beckon us.  This will be a big shocker to all of you but we went to a park!  Read on if you can tolerate it was rather funny.  It was a super busy day and there were tons of people there.  I sat on a bench and realized that there were about 20 nannies behind me with their respective children.  It was such a huge gathering I wanted to take a picture.  So wanting to get a quick snap shot of them but not wanting to look like the obvious tourist I am I decided to employ my iPhones handy camera fit feature where you can look like you are taking a picture one way but actually taking a picture towards yourself....I got caught.   A nanny behind me was watching me and quickly came up to ask why(in french) I was taking a picture of her.  She actually wanted to see my phone.  Thankfully I actually had not taken a picture yet(well I got one of my pants but not them)  so I flipped through them for her to see I had not taken one.  After that she seemed rather apologetic and walked off.  I however, felt like a total idiot and a really bad spy.

I read an article before I came here in the WSJ that french children were a lot more well behaved and about all the lessons french moms could teach us.  Thus far I have seen very few french moms and a lot of french nannies.  But aside from that I would like to also dispel the rumor that french children don't have tantrums(seen a few), don't disobey(seen that too), and are quiet(this is true.)  They are quiet.  Playgrounds are full of child like noises but MY children are always the loudest.  They run, they scream, they chase they make a ton of noise.  But where I used to think the french would thumb their noses at us and act all put out by our obnoxious noises instead they seem entertained almost amused by it.  Today while at a park I wanted some peace and quite so I sent the crazies out on a race.  I had them run to the far end of the park and back and the winner got a cookie.  They were screaming at each other almost the whole way about how people had "cheated," "started too soon,"the girls just screaming because it's fun.  I did not get my moment of peace but rather was worried about the people who were quietly sitting reading would think of this onslaught of noise.  Rather than look discussed many stopped what they were doing and watched, and actually smiled.  Because Austin insisted Jackson had "cheated" a rematch was scheduled once everyone had caught their breathe.  The second race was no different.  Mainly Jackson appears to be faster than Austin and thus "cheats" every race in Austin's eyes.

I guess if you have a few million Euros laying around you can buy your own castle...and apparently there is quite a selection.

Farmers Market
Some random protest...there are many

Ant eating an Ant, was entertainment for a long while.

Have you ever had a dream where you are trying to run fast but your feat are in concrete.  Hannah looks like that.

Todd got home from work and I needed to escape from my current company so he graciously offered to watch them.  I wanted to go to a movie but I guess we may go see something with one of the other Fellows and her son tomorrow so I decided to go for a run.  As I am starting to be sad about leaving I stopped about 10 times and took pictures along my route.
