Mexican food and Mud.

Well it may look like a mud puddle, but it is a mud puddle with a refection of the Eiffel Tower in it so there.  I think that pretty much sums up the experience of the weather here.  I discovered where Princess Diana died.  I was just reading some article about it and saw that the place was called Pointe Alma which I run past on my "route."  I took a moment to go look at it and take a picture.  Such a weird thing.  Plus it's a little funny because they have the "flame of Liberty" there(they gave us Lady Liberty but I guess kept the flame.)
Yesterday could hear the familiar cheese ball 80's beat and knew it had been downloaded...."Rad."  It's a 80's freestyle bike movie that apparently Todd and his brothers grew up loving.  It is the cheesiest movie I have ever seen but the kids(including Todd) love it so I tolerate it when needed.

Yesterday I told Todd he was in charge of finding us something to do. As I have run out of ideas.  He said we would leave around 5:30 so I went for a run and then we all got ready.  I really did not have any idea where we were going nor did the kids.  We took the metro and it was a little crowded so I was not really paying attention to where we were going.  It was a bit odd to come out of a subway and not have a clue where you are.  A museum? A park? But soon I saw the sign and knew exactly where we were going.... Chipotle.  While we lived about a block from one for years I did not realize the awesomeness of it.  For one thing there is very little Mexican food here.  For another we don't eat out.  Plus we had been reading on a blog of sorts for expats that they were getting one here but it kept getting it's opening delayed.  I guess it opened a couple weeks ago(I also found out Todd knew this, guess where he has been studying.)  So we were all too happy to partake.  It was a nice surprise and did not involve me cooking or doing dishes so I was game.  They use whole wheat tortillas and brown rice which is cool.  They also had what Austin referred to as "that soda they make in Texas"(Dr Pepper)

So we had the option to take the metro home or walk.  The Chipotle is across town from us so it was about a 3.5-4mile walk home.  But the sun was out and everyone was fed so we decided to walk.  The kids were good and we got some cool pictures of the city.

Austin took this, we were laughing because he kept telling us to kiss...which I don't think he will do for too much longer but apparently he recognized that in Paris if you are on a bridge taking a picture you need to be kissing.

  1. Our kids will have a mutual appreciation of Rad, which you and I don't possess. But, when they're teenagers, we can leave them to watch it while we go shopping, and we'll both have a good time!
