Austin, ever the patriot, was determined to go see the Statue of Liberty they have here. Yes, they have a statue of liberty here. She is about 1/10th the size of the actual one I'd say, and way down the river. But I guess France liked it's gift to us so much that it made a small one for itself. Actually I have no idea why it's here but it's here so we went to see it. The weather is crazy. It has rained, hailed, and been picturesquely beautiful at moments(all today.) We have been lucky to time things well and seem to hit good spots. Yesterday was Farmers market day. It was again a good experience. The kids cannot seem to help themselves but to say "eww" and "gross" at the things they find unsavory. But when I asked Austin to stop it he pointed out that no one could understand him anyways. On a run I found the Luxemburg Gardens which are amazing. I don't think there is a stray leaf in that park. Today was slow other than the outing to Lady Liberty. We came back home and everyone except the boys was lulled to sleep by our upstairs neighbor playing piano music. It's so beautiful and they are so talented. It seems somehow perfect to sit here and watch watch the buildings glow in the late day sun and the people scurry by. On a food note you'd think we were in Italy based on what we eat. I think a combination of what the kids like and convenience we eat Pasta a LOT. We found these little macaroni noodles that everyone loves with butter and salt. They seem to be our staple side dish along with the bread...and nutella, least we forget. It is shameful to report we are on our 3rd jar of it. It's been nice to spend so much time together as a family. The kids are getting along and seem to be content even in just hanging around here. The iPads have slowly been reintroduced but in very limited supply so that's helped a lot. I never really saw myself as a city girl(though for most of my adult life I have lived in urban areas) but this is totally a city I could live in. I don't know what it is about Paris but somehow everything seem purposeful. From the food to the parks there is beauty all around and at night it's truly the city of lights.
Could you e-mail me a copy of the picture of the 4 kids with the boys standing over the girls hugging them? I'll have it printed at Costco. I want to keep a 5X7 of that one. It is SO precious. Glad you are having such a wonderful time.
