Silence

Paris is a city of contradictions. They where designer clothes everywhere yet they don't pick their dog poop up off the sidewalk. They give you 10 seconds to get on a subway train and yet it takes 2 hours to eat lunch. I guess it's these things that make it unique.

Today was a lazy day. It's Saturday so we decided to act Parisian and be lazy all day. For starters I was curious if I shut the shutters and made it dark what time we'd get up. Turns out 11:20. :). We got everyone up ate breakfast and went to lounging around. Jackson and I went to the store. I cooked chicken and veggies. And as we don't seem to have a crepere near by I made chocolate(nutella) crepes. And they were super yummy. Warm nutella is well, amazing Todd tried to tell me what it's made of but I didn't care to hear.
Todd ran today and we had a laugh as he stopped to take pictures of this beautiful neighborhood and realized he was on our street.
There is a small park a block away. It is astonishing how quiet this city is. It is also astonishing how loud my kids are. Even when you walk down the street it almost seems like the city is empty it is so quiet...until we get within 100 yards of you and you'll know we are coming. It's hard to teach silence. Children here are different. They are accustom to the practices of silence and patience. I was a bit worried about that coming here with 4 kids who are neither silent nor patient. But a friend(Ken) pointed out I could try to raise French kids but they'd grow up to be French adults. :). So we try to protect the peace where we can, apologize for our excited outbursts in the bakery at the sight of cupcakes, and do our best not to take up the whole sidewalk. But I can assure you if we're at at park on a quiet Saturday you'll know we're there.

  1. Jackson and his cookie, biscuit, or whatever it is in France are twins!! I don't need any imagination at all to see you guys out and about . Love you and your blog help me miss you less. Give love to everyone even the camera man photographing his own neighborhood. Hope he never tries to buy a house you already own! Love Dad
