Louvre You!

So the Easter Bunny came thanks to these magical things called kinder eggs. For those unfamiliar they are chocolate eggs with a little surprise toy inside. The Easter bunny still jet lagged even had time to build an elaborate Lego holder for one. I could not figure out when/where church is so I'll scout it out during the week. The breakfast of chocolate was followed by a plan I'd been working on for days....getting to the Louvre.
The Louvre, how to tackle the worlds largest museum with 4 kids? Take only 2. So I love the Louvre. I would live there. I'm sure I'll go like 10xs while we're here. But my love of the Louvre has limits. I don't love saying "Don't run," "don't touch that," "be quiet"..... So I'd braced myself that my museum may not be as great as I'd remembered it. I was wrong. It was like a taste of home, crowded, loud, pushy, noisy, and I even spotted my first screaming toddler. Yay! Oh it was delightful. For the first time I walked with pride through the galleries as the boys took in the greatness. I didn't even care when Jackson burst out in his trademark laugh that the "sculptures are naked!"
I heard some statistic that if you looked at each piece for 2 seconds it would take you 4 days to see everything. Massive does not do it justice. So I decided the goal was simple: get in, have fun, get out. Austin wanted to see the Mona Lisa, 10 minutes of jockeying through the mass of people and we were face to face(well 8' and 2" of plexy glass away) with her. Done. Next mummies. What 10 and 7 year old could resist 1000 year old dead people? Done, still smiling we called it good. That took 4 hours and we walked I imagine 10 miles but it was great. We survived to go again.
We waked home down the Rue Cler which is not far. Found Todd and the girls at home doing Taxes(I had the better day.) Ate what's left of our amazing raviolis and am trying to get the monsters to bed.

As a note so as not to drive my Facebook friends crazy I'll stop posting these to FB but you can go to the blog any time, I plan on updating it every day.

Xoxo

  2. Sarah - I am loving hearing about your adventure! I loved the Louvre as well; what an amazing collection of art - especially the sculptures - but I think we missed the mummies - guess we will have to head back. Thanks for sharing :)
