Oh the circadian rhythm is a powerful thing. I't s midnight in Paris, we just got back from the Eiffel Tower. We played on a playground there in the dark which was pretty fun as there is a full moon. It's amazing how many people are out late into the night. It is nice because we live in a very non touristy area so it's quite quiet at night. We did venture out to the farmers market, it was quite a ways away but we came home with the goods. It's funny because we spent about $30 on raviolis which we thought was nuts until we tasted them now I am pretty sure I will go back each week to get more. After we made it back we ate...again. Todd went for a run and then it was my turn. I have not run in over a week so I was dying to go. It was great. Crossing streets is a little tricky but if you run along the river you can avoid most cars and tourists. I ran from here to Eiffel tower to the Louvre. I must not look french because I've been asked 3xs here for directions from people in English....maybe it's the screaming at my kids in english? Anyhow the run was amazing.
I have gotten pretty good at saying "sorry I don't speak french well" and people generally know some english, or at least are polite as they listen to me slaughter their language. I was trying to buy chicken breasts today and while I know chicken I was hard pressed for the breasts...I considered pointing to my own anatomy but was not sure how well that would go over, eventually we figured it out. It was a crazy real butcher shop, in fact the lady hacked the breasts right off the chicken which was exciting. Was nice having Todd home all day. The kids school work is working into a sort of routine. It's been fun trying to find ways to educate them, I actually think I take the opportunity to teach them more practical things now.
Easter is Sunday and it's not like it is in the states. I saw some dyed eggs for sale and almost bought them. But I am actually considering not telling anyone it's Easter(too bad we cannot do this for Christmas) But knowing me I'll last minute something and the bunny will show up.
It's been loads of fun, I can't begin to explain how beautiful this city is...really everywhere you look is something worthy of note. I ran so slow because I stopped like 10x's to take pictures. Super lucky are we.
xoxo
