Ripping off Bandaids

The morning was off to a good start, we were out of bed before 10...yay. Everyone got a bath(we are big bath recyclers-it pays to get up early or you get the last bath) Then we ate breakfast, started school work, then the peaceful morning came to a complete halt. "I went on a train." was the sentence that started it all, that lead to crying, melt downs, lost tempers, and removal of iPads, yes our only digital entertainment, gone. Even I was a bit panicked by this. But one thing was for sure, we were not staying in the apartment without them!! So tears wiped away we set out. We had seen it the other day when we were searching out the farmers market and after the morning we had we all needed a break so we went to McDonalds. Please don't hate me I don't plan on making a habit of it but seriously people I'm not taking the 4 of them into a restaurant alone, I would rather have my toe nails removed. It was rather fun, ordering "les cinq happy meals." You had to go up a winding staircase balancing your drinks on a tray to get to the seating. We then scouted out some young kids(there's no school here on Weds.) They were finishing up so we stalked their table. A very sweet young boy who must have been Austin's age asked if we were Americans and where we were from, then hurried his friends out of the seats for us. We had a great view of the city and it was actually quite relaxing. One of the girls had to "poop" she announced(glad no one can understand us.) So we went down 2 flights of stairs to the bathroom, which turned out to be co-ed. Interesting. I walked in to find 2 men washing their hands. They had separate stalls but it was a little odd, very European. We then headed out to go to the Champs de Mars, whats become our park. The girls played on the playground after a brief warm up period while the scouted out the competition. The boys played basketball on the court with a quarter sized ball they got from McDonalds. There were a lot of American kids there playing. That got Austin's attention and he followed them around wordlessly for about 10 minutes. It's funny how your ear just grabs at anything that sound like english, you find yourself listening to more than looking at people. We walked home made crepes and did some reading. We got a soccer, excuse me football, at the Champs de mars and played some soccer. I made pasta for dinner, grabbed yet more bread(the girls who work in the bakery are starting to get the idea that I always get 5 baguettes. We also got to talk with Nana, grandpa, and Reily(dog) on FaceTime. It's funny how being far away seems to make you almost miss people more. Our friend Teresa is coming to visit in May for the girls birthday, she found an apartment just down the street(actually on top of our bakery) so that will be nice to see her and have some company.
All and all, great beautiful day!

  1. No one's judging McDonald's consumption... especially not in PARIS:)

... everything sounds so fun; thanks again for taking the time to share with us everyday. I have been looking forward to my daily Parisian updates. I wish we could come visit you guys too. If you teach us how to face time we would love to say hi!!

PS. This always signs Daniel and Candace because it's the same host that we used for our wedding blog and I can't figure out how to change the name... but you know it's me. Candace ;)
